~John Walker was born May 29, 1781.~He was born in Stockton, England.~He was third of four boys and also had two sisters.~His father was a grocer and wine merchant.~Was only 15 when he started a career.~He never married throughout his life.~Died 1859 at the age of 78.
Accomplishments
~Invented in the year of 1827.~It was invented so that you could strike the match anywhere and it could produce fire.~They were made when he coated the end of a stick with certain chemicals and let them dry. ~After a little while you could strike the match anywhere and it would start a fire.
~Walker discovered that if you mixed certian chemicals together and let them dry they could start a fire.~He also accomplished selling his first match April 7, 1827.~Walker became Watson Alcock's, a surgeon, assistant.~He invented the match:)
Lasting Impact
~This invention affected America because now we can strike a match anywhere and start a quick, easy fire.~We now can enjoy parties and campfires without having to make fire on our own.~The match has helped make fire, warmth, and cooking food so much easier for all of us.
