John F. Kennedy
Life of JFK
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born in Brookline, Massachusetts on May 29, 1917 to businessman/politician Joseph Patrick "Joe" Kennedy, Sr. and philanthropist Rose Elizabeth Fitzgerald. In 1936 Kennedy was enrolled to Harvard where he tried out for the football team, golf, and swimming team. He made it onto Harvard's varsity swimming team. By his junior year at Harvard he made it on the Dean's List. After college, in 1941 Kennedy joined the U.S. Navy until 1945. His years of congress started from 1946 until 1960 when he ran for president.
Presidency
John F. Kennedy was sworn in as the 35th President at noon on January 20, 1961. In his inaugural address he spoke of the need for all Americans to be active citizens, famously saying, "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country." He asked the nations of the world to join together to fight what he called the "common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself". During Kennedy's presidency he had done so much for our country even though his first time in office was cut short. Two years is not a long time and Kennedy accomplished more than a lot of presidents today do in two terms. Kennedy was definitely not scared of what was before him. He took all the challenges our country help and dove in head first.
Assassination
President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, at 12:30 pm. on Friday November 22, 1963, while on a political trip to Texas. He was shot once in the throat, once in the upper back, with the fatal shot hitting him in the head.Kennedy was taken to Parkland Hospital for emergency medical treatment, but pronounced dead at 1:00 pm. Only 46, President Kennedy died younger than any U.S. president to date. Lee Harvey Oswald, an employee of the Texas School Book Depository from which the shots were suspected to have been fired, was arrested on charges for the murder of a local police officer, but was never subsequently charged with the assassination of Kennedy. Just a few days later, Oswald was shot and killed by Jack Ruby while he was being transported.
Lee Harvey Oswald
Lee Harvey Oswald is born in New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of Marguerite and Robert Oswald, Sr. Two months before his birth, his father dies of a heart attack. Marguerite Oswald is left alone to care for Lee and his two older brothers — his half-brother, John Pic, and Robert Jr. Just after turning 17, Oswald enlists in the Marines. He wounds himself with a pistol one year later. Soon he wants to defect to Russia, but was refused. He ended up attempting suicide and sent to psychiatric ward. He soon wants out of Russia and returns to American and lived in Texas
