John Adams

Adams's Early Life John Adams was born on October 30, 1735, in Braintree, Massachusetts. He earned a scholarship to Harvard and graduated at the age of 20. On October 25, 1764, Adams Married and moved to Boston. Later Adams had six children, Abigail(Nabby), John Quincy(Future 6th president of the U.S.), Susanna, Charles, and Thomas. Most of his children were born while he was away at the Continental Congress.

The Continental CongressJohn Adams was one of the five men chosen to represent the Massachusetts colony at the First Continental Congress, in 1774. In 1775, He nominated George Washington to be commander-in-chief on the colonial armies. Adams was involved in more than ninety committees and chaired 25 during the second Continental Congress. John Adams thought of the Dclaration of Independence, in 1776. Adams was sent to Paris, France to get the help of the French. a few years later, Adams, along with John Jay and Benjamin Franklin, was in Europe helping to negotiate the Treaty of Paris. This officially ended the Revolutionary War.

After Independence From 1789-1797, John Adams served as America's first Vice-President. After his two terms of Vice-president John Adams became America' second President. His Vice-president was Thomas Jefferson. John Adams lost the second election to Thomas Jefferson, his former Vice-president, who became the third president of America. John Adams died on July 4, 1826, incidentally within hours of Thomas Jefferson's death.
