The Carter Center is a peace organization founded by Jimmy Carter dedicted to democracy and international human rights.

Rosalynn Carter

Growing up on a farm helped Jimmy Carter to learn the value of hard work.

Carter began his Naval career on battleships and had a strong interest in nuclear physics.

Jimmy met Rosalynn in Georgia before he attended Annapolis and fell in love with her. They were married in June of 1946.

Habitat for Humanity is an organization that believes that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. They build and repair houses all over the world using volunteer labor and donations. Jimmy and Rosalynn donate a week each year to build houses for Habitat for Humanity, gathering international support and aid.

Jimmy Carter is an advocate for humanity and and Peace. His establishment of the Carter Center and work with Habitat for Humanity have led many historians to characterize him as possibly the greatest former President of all time.

Carter announced his candidacy for President in December of 1974 with Walter Mondale of Minnesota as his running mate. He won a four year term against President Gerald Ford and served as President from 1977-1981; failing to get re elected due to his unpopular handling of the energy crisis and the Iran Hostage Situation.
