JFK's years as president came to be known as Camelot. His wife began the saying after he died. Camelot is a time or place of happiness.

AssassinationIn 1963, Kennedy was in Texas to campaign. He was riding in a motorcade when Lee Harvey Oswald shot JFK. He was believed to be acting alone, but to this day there is speculation that he had outside help despite the FBI study saying otherwise. Lee Harvey Oswald was shot while be transferred to a different jail by Jack Ruby, a Dallas nightclub owner.

President JFK managed to diffuse this dangerous situation by blockading Cuba and demanding that Russia remove the missiles from Cuba. In the end we aggreed to remove our missiles from Turkey if they removed theirs from Cuba.
