Tropical RainforestBy: Ellie and Jenna
Tropical rainforests are located around the belt at the equator. The climate is very warm most of the year and has a lot of rain. The average temperature in the day is greater than 20 degrees celsius. At night, it drops to between 20to 25 degrees celsius. The relative humidity is always high. There is no dry season.
Tropical rainforests cover about 6% of the Earth’s total land surface.
The total rainfall for the year is between 1500 and 2500 mm - very wet environment!
Soil is very poor in this envoronment; minerals are found in the variety of vegetation - especially large trees
