I was born in October 24, 1749 In New Haven CT– My father was active in colonial affairs.When I was younger I was educated privately and at Yale, where I graduated in 1766.After studying law in England, I was admitted to the Pennsylvania bar in 1773 and became a leading attorney; later I argued many important cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.I served (1780–81) in the Continental Congress and was (1787) a delegate to the Federal Constitutional Convention. In Pennsylvania I was attorney general (1790–99, 1811–17), U.S. district attorney (1800–1801), and presiding judge (1821–22) of the district court of Philadelphia co. In 1812 I was the unsuccessful candidate for Vice President, running on the antiwar Republican and Federalist ticket headed by De Witt Clinton.

Accomplishments I was a Founding Father of the United States, an early American lawyer and statesman from Philadelphia. I was a delegate to the Continental Congress and I signed the U.S. Constitution for Pennsylvania.

Jared Ingersoll died in Philadelphia at the age of 73 and was survived by three children; interment was in the Old Pine Street Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Fourth and Pine Streets. Ingersoll Street in Madison, Wisconsin is named after Jared Ingersoll.
