An exceptional athlete, Robinson lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and track and field while at UCLA.As a running back on the football team, he led the nation in yards/carry in '39.As a guard, he led the basketball team in scoring in '40 and '41.He was the NCAA Long Jump champion in '40.

Robinson spent time in the US Army during World War II from '42-'44 where he was a second lieutenant.After the war, he and Rachel Isum were married in '46.They had 3 children together - Jackie Jr., Sharon, and David.

Robinson was the first African American baseball player to play in the Major Leagues in '47.He wore #42 and played second base for the Brooklyn Dodgers.He was a six-time All-Star and won the NL MVP in '49.He won the World Series with the Dodgers in '55.
