Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play in baseball's major league, that's why I chose to do my project on him. Jackie Robinson became the first African American player in the major leagues in 1947, signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was named Rookie of the Year in 1947, National League MVP in 1949 and a World Series champ in 1955.

It is important to study history because we need to know about the past and present to help us understand the future. Looking and learning about the past can help us in today’s society because it can help us develop the understanding of how the United States became what it is today.
