Jackie Robinson's Childhood

After the army he went to the Kansas City Monarchs to play in the Negro league. Then Brooklyn Dodgers president Branch Rickey had something in mind, he chose 1 player from the Negro Leagues to play in the whites game,and it was Jackie! Mr.Rickey had a talk with him, and he told Jackie when people were threatening him, DON'T FIGHT BACK. Mr. Rickey started him off in the minor league team for the Dodgers which he played good for them. Then on April 15th, 1947 Jackie broke history by becoming the first ever negro to play in a white man's game. It was very tough for him to not fight back in the big leagues. Then after a few years most people didn't threaten him because they realixed he can really play with the white men. After his life in the big leagues he was induced into the national baseball hall of fame in 1962. He passed away on October 24th, 1972

Jackie Robinson's Impact On Life Today

Jackie has had a big impact on life today. Today there are many African Americans in the MLB, the MLB thanks him so much that he has his own day on April 15th and every player in the league wears number 42. He gave others African Americans hope, a part of what brought black and white people together. He also has a movie made up on his life called "42" The Jackie Robinson Story and a Little League teams named after him, a league from West Chicago that won the Little League World Series in the US, but lost to South Korea in the World Championship Game.The team is under the text.

Jack Roosevelt Robinson was born on January 31,1919 in Cairo,Georgia. He was the youngest of 5 kids. His parents, Mallie and Jerry were sharecroppers. The Robinson family moved to Pasadena, California which they were the only African Americans on the block. In high school, Jackie was very good at sports, he was on the varsity team for basketball,football,baseball, and track. Then he attended the university of UCLA to play the same 4 sports. Finally, he was in the army from 1942-1944

Jackie had many accomplishments. It started in High School when he was on the Varsity teams for Football,Basketball,Baseball and Track. Then in College playing them same 4 sports and of course getting a diploma at UCLA. Finally the big leagues, it started by being the first African American to play in the MLB,winning national league MVP in 1949, winning the world series in 1955 and many others. He also has some that last today like having his own day,2 movies on his life,having a foundation which is ran by his wife Rachel and having awards named after him
