Jackie Robinson

His full name is Jackie Roosevelt Robinson.He was born on January31,1919 in Cario,Georgia.Jackie was signed to the Dodgers by Branch Rickyon April 10, 1947 and made his major league debue on April 15, 1947. Jackie played first base for the Dodgershis first season. He was treated very poorly but did not fight back. Since he could hold his temper, other players would pick on him and make fun of him even more. They did this because they knew that if he fought back he would be dropped form the team. Jackie later died on October 24, 1972.

Why Was He Motivated?

He was tired of the black peopel being treated so poorly and wantedto change that. He also wanted to show that it didn't matter what coloroyu were, everyone has talent.

Jackie used his fame to make public speeches against racism. He spoke at games, schools and many more places. He aslo spoke to managers about allowing more blacks into the MLB.

What was the Impact?

These reforms had a great impact on not only the MLB, but the world. Because of Jackie, blacks were given more rights and respected more.
