What is an IUD?
An IUD (Intera Uterine Device) is a small, anchor shaped device that is inserted into a females vagina, up into the uterus, blocking both ovarian tubes and prevents pregnancy.
The advantages of an IUD include;- More than 99% effective at preventing pregnancy.- They last between 5 and 10 years.- They can be removed anytime by a doctor.- There is no risk of losing fertility.The disadvantages may include;- They must be inserted by a doctor.- Fairly costly- Risk Of Infection- There is a risk of tearing the wall of the uterus when it’s inserted. - They don’t protect against STIs. - They can fall out.
