Verbal irony is most commonly expressed when a person is frustrated or trying to be funny, for example: "I'm so glad Ms. Zeichman assigned us the 12 page essay!"Dramatic irony is a plot device, so you'll only see it used in literary works such as books, plays, or movies.
1) Verbal Irony: When a person says the opposite of what they mean. 2) Situational Irony: When the outcome of an action is the opposite of what is expected3) Dramatic Irony: When the reader or viewer knows something the characters do not.
