Ireland

The Irish constitution establishes the main government institutions of Ireland. The state is divided into three separate powers: the legislative power, the executive power, and the judicial power. The legislative power belongs to the national parliament which consists of an upper and lower house and president. The executive power belongs to the prime minister, deputy prime minister and the cabinet of ministers. The judicial power resides with the courts.Source: Irish Government. The Irish play native games of Gaelic football (a cross between soccer and rugby) and hurling (similar to field hockey). The Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in 1884 to revive native Irish sports. Today amateur and professional teams compete in the traditional sports.Source:Ranelagh, John O'Beirne.
