Companies such as Atari and Apple began producing small affordable computers designed to help people with everyday tasks like typing letters

The 1980's is the time in which computers changed everyday life for people

In 1984 Apple Macintosh is launched and in 1985 the first domain is registerd

NSF decides that the network should eventually become financially self-sustaining and not dependant on government funding or control

In the early 1980s, NSF had several initiatives running to help spread the benefits of networking
