Obtaining the truth was crucial in unraveling the classified information that would drastically impact the people of Chicago even if it meant the betrayal of the ones closest to you.

This quotation represents the constant conflict within the main character, Beatrice Prior, as well as the human race during a time of induced choas. The context of this novel is filled with decisions that ultimately end in life or death as a result of hostility and war.
