Inquiry-based Science


Though I really enjoyed learning about how to use informational text with inquiry-based science, I also loved learning about the citizen science. I had no idea that there are people all over the country and even world who are dedicated to sharing data and observations and findings in order to keep science and even our world alive. It seems like such a great way to get your students involved and realize that they're not he only ones!

I also really enjoyed the presenters who came into our classes. Not only was it fun to to participate, but it was so helpful to learn of all the resources we have available as teachers! Sometimes it is hard to find support within your school, but there are always reasources from the outside. Even if you don't have a lot of funds, you can find loaner materials or get lesson plans from these great organizations!

I already valued the subject of science before this class, but I now have a much better understanding of how to teach it. And not only that, but how to teach it in a way that all students can enjoy the learning process. I have almost always enjoyed science, but not everyone does. By teaching inquiry-based, hands-on science lessons, all students can actually have a fun time learning!

I remember when we worked as a team to build the rollercoasters. It required a lot of trial and error, brainstorming, and great teamwork. All of these skills are beneficial and even required for all subjects. They are simply good learning tools and social skills. Effect science lessons teach effecting learning.

Inquiry-base science engages students and teaches them to observe and think like a scientist! It can be integrated with other subjects easily and enhances the content. There is no reason to not teach inquiry-based science in every classroom.
