The 2 sub groups of the Innu are Montagnais and Naskapi

The Innu came to Newfoundland and Labrador 500 A.D (Anno Domini)

FOOD

Shelter

In the summer the Innu lived in groups of several familes. Each family had a wigwam built with alder frames. covered with birch bark and caribou skin.

In the summer the Innu traveled using canoes constructed with birch bark. In the winter the Innu used snoeshoes for traveling.

TRANSPORTATION

They dessign clothing that adapt to seasonal travel. They used caribou for most of their clothing.

Clothing

The tools the Innu used were made from chert. The tools that were mad from chert was arrow heads,spear tips, and cutting blades were all mad from chert.

In the spring and summer they hunted seals and small mammels. To fish, they moved to coastal areas.In the winter and fall they hunted caribou and migrating ducks and geese.
