Immigration was a key part in the making of America. New York City is reffered to as the "Melting Pot" due to the various cultures and ethnicities found in America. Immigration allowed our country to be exposed to new ways of life.

Roosevelt IIn the year 1800, the idea of immigration began to storm the borders of America. Families around the world journeyed to America to discover a new beginming full of freedom and hope. Adjusting to a new way of life was a challenge for most families, but they savored every minute in this country knowing it would bring endless opportunities for their families. Immigration today has led to diverse opinions. Various cultures around the world such as Irish, Chinese and Italian families traveled across strenuous seas to reach their new home. As you review the various vidoes and resources, you travel back into history to experience the journey of immigration through the eyes of different cultures. As you discover the world and concepts of immigration, try to put yourself in each families shoes and think about how your outlook on immigration would be.
