Mier y Teran Report
Happened in 1828
While the number of settlers increased and events like the Fredonion Rebelion the Mexican government's fear grew. So in 1828 they sent general Manuel Mier y Teran to investigate and report in Texas. After touring for 1 year he reported that setttlers outnumbered Mexican settlers 10 to 1, and also noticed that the influence of the U.S was growing in Texas and many laws were being ignored. So he suggested to gain control by any means neccesary. Eventualy the Mexican gov. decided to make Texas less attractive and abolish slavery. Which they hoped slowed down immigration from the U.S.
