[2015] Bailee Reed (9th ELA): If I Stay

If I Stay

Character analysis-Mia- She is an avid music lover and accomplished cello player who is awaiting acceptance to the Julliard School of Music in New York.Kim- The biggest change she had was when Mia was in the hospital and she was very sad, but she didn't want to show her emotions to try and stay strong.Adam- Mia's boyfriend. He is very handsome, and loves music. He plays guitar in the band Shooting Star, which is rapidly gaining popularity throughout Oregon. Adam’s band is on tour when Mia has her accident, and this tour sets the tone for potential issues with their relationship.

My reactions It kind of made me upset to see the way Mia's and Adam's relationship unraveled. They didnt think it would last because they were so different. Also when I found out Mia and her parents were in a wreck on the way to see some family friends, I was very shocked. And the whole out of body experience thing was very weird and somewhat scary. Then near the end when she came back to life, it was the best thing. You wouldn't have thought she would have came back to life/wake up, but she did. If I Stay was a really good book. I reccommend it to anyone who likes romance and drama.

Setting- Is in Oregon in the Intensive care Unit.

Summary-Mia is a very gifted cellist. She has everything she could ever want: a loving family, an adoring boyfriend, an amazing best friend, and an amazing career ahead of her in music. All of that changes suddenly. Mia and her family have a terrible car accident and Mia is rushed to the ICU. Mia is caught between life and death, and watches as family and friends come to visit her at the hospital she is in. Mia had to make a huge decision to either wake up and live the critical life she would be living or to just let go and die.
