Why use graphic organisers?
When we unpacked this standard the learning objectives are clearly about comparing rather than just understanding the ideas or discussing the way ideas are convey. Graphical organisers move the student away from the actual language and form of a text and make sure they focus on finding the differences between authors view points rather than style or form. It also provides a review resource.
"Compare the point of view of two or more authors for how they treat the same or similar topics, including which details they include and emphasize in their respective accounts. (Grade 9-10)" - CCS ELAAfter completing this lesson the students will be able to compare and contrast different authors points of view based on source texts.
