Hyperbolas
Real World Example
A real world example of a hyperbola is an acoustic guitar. The curves of the body of the guitar represent the curves of a hyperbola.
A hyperbola is formed when a plane slices the top and bottom section of the cone. (h,k) is the center between the curves and it's two asymptotes go through the points (+a,-b) and (-a,+b) as well as (a,b) and (-a,-b) starting at the center point.http://www.wyzant.com/help/math/algebra/conic_sections
