Huntingtons Disease
What is Huntingtons Disease?Huntingtons disease is a progressive degenerative brain disorder that causes mental, physical, and emotional changes. Huntingtons Disease destroys cells in the basal ganglia, causing difficulty to talk, move, and think. Caused by a gene mutation that leads to a toxic accumulation of protien in the brain.
Since Huntingtons disease is a dominate allele, people with just one parent effected have a 50-50 chance on getting the disease themselves.
A Not So Fun Fact!George Huntington is the first physician to first describe the illness in 1872.
