Born April 27, 1791Died April 2, 1872He was born in Charlestown, Massachusetts. The eldest of Jedidiah Morse and Elizabeth Breese. He had two younger brothers. Their names were Sidney and Richard

In 1808 at the age of 16 he went to Yale.At Yale he devloped a likness to painting.After he graduated from Yale he cointuned painting and studied at The Royal Academy of Design. He continued painting untill a friend introduced him to the properties of electricity.

In 1833 he made his firsttelegraph using electromagnetics.This telegraph transmitted signalsusing wire. It moved a marker to produce written codes on a strip of paper. The next year he changedit to use dots and dashes. That was the first MorseTelegraph

Nine years lateralmost all of the stated east of the Mississippi were connected. The Morse Telegraph incresed the speedof imformation.
