How do humans affect water?
Human Dependence on Water
Water is our most precious resource; it is vital to life. Humans, plants, and animals are made up of mostly water. All living things would die if it weren't for water. We use water for drinking, washing, cleaning, cooking, and growing our food as well as many, many other things. So, to protect our way of life we need to keep our water clean and make sure we use it carefully.
Critical thinking: What are some ways that you use water daily? What are some ways that you can help keep water clean?
Sadly, humans often pollute the water resources until they are unusable. This is an example of polluted water. Some people have no access to clean water, and this is what they must use and drink.
You can help! Don't litterUse non-toxic itemsCollect rain water
Humans aren't the only ones who suffer from polluted water. Many animals and aquatic creaters become ill or die from polluted water. Picture A shows a healthy coral reef while B shows a reef that lives in polluted water
But what can I do to help keep the water clean and ready for use?
All around the world water is used for the same reasons, to provide life and nourishment to plants, animals, and humans. However, some countries are less developed than others, meaning their way of transporting and getting water is different. While we can get water from the faucet and turn on a sprinkler, others have to walk miles to get drinking water or create rain holders to water the crops
