How to treat Pulmonary valve stenosis

The initial evaluation of pulmonary valve stenosis involves echocardiography : a sonogram of the heart (ultrasound-based diagnostic imaging technique)

Balloon valvuloplasty is the repair of the valve using a balloon catheter inside the it. The balloon is placed into the pulmonary valve that has become stiff from calcium buildup. The balloon is then inflated in an effort to increase the opening size of the valve and improving blood flow.

However, if your case is more serious, you may need either balloon valvuloplasty or open-heart surgery.

Open heart surgery is any surgery where the chest is opened and surgery is done on the heart muscle, valves, arteries, or other parts of the heart (such as the aorta). The term "open" means that the chest is "cut" open.
