Igeneous Rock
Geologist can classify a rock by observing the rock's color, texture, and mineral composition. Geologists classify rocks into three major groups:igneous rock, sedimentary rock, and metamorphic rock.
Sedimentary rocks form when particles of other rocks or the remains of plants and animals are pressed and cemented together. Sedimentary rock forms in layers that are buried below the surface.
Igenous rocks form forms from the cooling of magma or lava.
Sedimentary Rocks
Classifying Rocks
Metamorphic rocks forms when an existing rock is changed by heat, pressure, or a chemical reaction. These rocks form deep underground.
