HOMICIDE DETECTIVE
The minimum education requirement to become a homicide detective is a highschool diploma, law enforcement certification, and experience as a sworn law officer. However most agencies would like a diploma in forensic science, criminal justice or any ither related course.
Why I chose this career:I chose this career because it seems like the most interesting to me. I like to watch Criminal Minds so the characters really inspired me to look into their jobs. I know that the show is nothing like real life but all the different cases have intruiged me and left me wanting to learn more.
Other duties:Homicide detectives have to authorize and prepare search warrants, attend autopsies, serving in the court, investigating crime scenes, and perform background searches. They also keep detailed and organized reports.
average salary: $61,230 a year
Homicide detectives are have many responsibilities on the job. Their responsibilities include gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, identifying suspects and suspecting parties. They also identify the responsible party and assist in the prosecution of criminals.
