Holocaust/Genocide/FinalSolution

The holocaust was the murder of 6 million Jews during WW2. Jews were not only victims, 5-6 million gypsies, handicaps, communists, Jehovah’s witnesses, homosexuals, labor unionists, political prisoners, and prisoners of war were killed. Hitler believed Jews were not German, they were pollutants, spoiling the German race. Hitler’s first act was a boycott of Jewish businesses and shops on April 1, 1933. During the boycott Nazis painted the stores’ doors and windows with the Star of David. A week after the boycott the Nazis issued the Anti-Jewish laws . May 10, 1933 thousands of German students and professors went on rampage in thirty different cities. During this rampage the students and professors dumped thousands of books, written by authors the Nazis did not like, into bonfires. Kristallnacht, the night of broken glass, happened on November 9, 1938. During Kristallnacht Nazis destroyed, looted, and burned over 1000 synagogues. They also wrecked over 7000 businesses. Nazis ruined Jewish hospitals, schools, cemeteries, and homes. Tens of thousands of Jews were put in ghettos. In the ghettos Jews lived in houses, meant for 2 people, with at least 10 or 15 other Jews at a time.

Final Solution

The Final Solution was the plan for the mass murder of the Jews. This plan was made by Hitler and carried out by the Nazis and Hitler himself.

Genocide

The word genocide was created to describe the mass murder of over 6 million Jews.
