The Roman Empire was the post-Republican period of the ancient Roman civilization, characterised by an autocratic form of government and large territorial holdings in Europe and around the Mediterranean..

It was the most powerful empire in the world, today part of 50 countries from all over the world. Its population was about 56 000 000 people.

Julius Caesar was the most powerful ruler in ancient Rome.He was born in the small town of Subura, on the 13th July 100 BC.In 60 BC, Caesar formed an alliance with Crassus and Pompey which was used to dominate Roman politics for several years.

He was the biggest personality in the Roman history, and he was succesfull as an emperor. He was assasinated on the Ides of March 44 BC by Servilius Casca. The Ides of March was a festive day dedicated to the god Mars.

Caesar was considered during his lifetime to be one of the best orators and authors of prose in Rome—even Cicero spoke highly of Caesar's rhetoric and style.
