The History of the Cherokee Indian Tribe
Trail of TearsIn 1835, the Cherokee was forced to sign a treaty giving the United States all the Cherokee land. In 1838, the US army forced the Cherokee indians to march to Oklahoma where they would live. During this over 4,000 Cherokee indians died.
Sequoyah was a famous Cherokee who invented a writing system and alphabet for the Cherokee language
