This is a time line through the history of the atom.

History of atom

1803

Dalton model

In 1897 a british scientist named j.j. Thomson discovered electrons. This lead to his "plum-Pudding" model.

In 1911 Ernest Rutherford said that an atom has a dense, positively charged nucleus and that the electrons move randomly in the space around the nucleus.

In 1926 Erwin Schrodinger developed a mathematical equation to describe the motion of electrons in atoms, this was known as the electon cloud model.

In 1913 Niels Bohr's model was that electrons move in spherical orbit at a fixed distance from the nucleus
