The History of Clothing
1980s
1990s
Dropped waist dress, high heels, clouche hat and bobbed hair was all the rage in the 1920s.
Many dresses featured puffed or butterfly sleeves as well as exaggerated shoulder pads to give the illusion of a smaller, more feminine waist.
Squared shoulders, narrow hips, and skirts that ended just below the knee were the height of fashion. Tailored suits were also quite popular.
Petticoats with full skirts, cinched waist, and bright colors were in style in the 50s.
Pillbox hats, pastel suits with short boxy jackets and oversized buttons, and simple geometric dresses or shifts.
1970s fashion was expressive and fun. People wore jump suits, turtlenecks, hot pants and everything in between.
Jelly bracelets, jelly shoes, neon clothing, leg warmers, shoulder pads, and Guess jeans were in trend in the 80s. And big hair.
Flannel, neon windbreakers, overalls, hip hop style and grunge all inspired 90s trends.
2000s
Crocs, track suits, Uggs and distressed jeans were very popular in the 2000s.
Most fashion trends in the 2010s are vintage inspired, preppy, combat boots, Uggs, yoga pants and leggings.
