Hinduism does not have a specific founder or a specific place of origin. It is concidered the oldest religion, and is thought of to be timeless by its followers. This religion is most commonly practiced at home, in front of an idol or image. Meditation is also common in households. Righteousness, fortitude, forgiveness, self-control, not stealing or being dishonest, purity, intellect, knowlege, truth, and absence of anger are their rules for moral conduct. Hindu sacred tezts are Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Epics. Some Hindu holidays are Holi, Ram Navami, Hanuman Jayanti, Akshaya Tritiya, and Guru Purunima. An important ritual is Shraddha (funeral rites) because death and what happens after death is a large part of this religion. The genders are tipicly equal, but lately men have started to gain more rights and status than women. The organization of people goes preists, warriors and rulers, skilled traders, officals, unskilled workers, then outcasts. A large festival held by on their new year, that is held on nthe first day of the Hindu month of Chaitra.
