H. G. WellsHerbert George Wells was born in England on September 21, 1866. He lived on a small household and did many chores to make a living. It was not until he was lying in his room after an injury when he was inspired to write. His mind wandered and he got many ideas just thinking by himself. Wells wrote his first book, The Time Machine, in 1895. It became an instant hit! The next year he wrote The Island of Doctor Moreau, a novel about a man who was stranded on an island with a mad scientist. Wells continued to write novels such as War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man, and Tales of Space and Time. His many popular novels earned him the title of the Father of Modern Science Fiction. In his later years, Wells became more obsessed with writing about social issues. His book Kipps, he explored the issues of social class life. He also wrote a book containing world history from prehistoric time to World War I. The book also contained predictions of a second world war and an atom bomb. H. G. Wells continued to write until he died in August 1946, a year after the war he predicted was over. All in all, Herbert George Wells is considered one of the greatest authors of all time. His many books inspired many movies, and people as well. He well deserved his title of The Father of Modern Science Fiction. We can be sure that his books will be read for generations to come.
