HEROS Jackie Robinson

Jackie Robinson JackieRobinson My Hero

Once upon a time in America when automobiles were black and looked like tanks, and laundry was white and hung on clotheslines to dry, there was a baseball league that no longer exists. This was called the Negro League. Many Americans knew that racial prejudice was wrong. Branch Rickey, the general manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team was not afraid of change. He thought segregation was unfair and searched for one special man, a star player in the Negro Leagues, who would have the skill and the characteristics to compete successfully in the Major Leagues.

....making a difference by changing the way Americans feel......

Staying focuses on a plan, even if the path to its end may be difficult

Working with others toward a common goal

Making a promise and following through on it.

Doing what you know is the right thing even when it is hard to do

Working toward a goal and continuing, even though you face barriers

Making a contribution that improves the lives of others.

Holding to your values, regardless of what other think you should do.

Treating all people fairly, no matter who they are.

Doing the best that you possibly can.

My Hero

" A life is not important except in the impact it has on others' lives." -Jackie Robinson
