The cause of Hepatitis B is usually from a virus, but it can also be caused by long-term use of alcohol

Hepatitis B is contracted through blood (eg. Needles) or unprotected sex

The symptoms for Hepatitis B are very similar to other viral infections, such as the flu. But Hepatitis B can aslo cause jaun dice.

It can take 2-5 months for symptoms to become obvious. Some people do not realise they have the disease until it is very severe.

If you are exposed to hepatitis B, there is special treatment that can prevent infection if you see a doctor immediately. There are medicines to help long-term carriers of hepatitis B.
