Henry Ford

In 1891, Ford became an engineer at The Edison Illuminating Company in Detroit. He dedicated his life to working in the industry.

Henry Ford was born on July 30th, 1863. He grew up on a family farm in Dearborn, Michigan. He supported him and his wife by running a sawmill.

The Ford Motor Company was established in 1903. According to the American Associates of Museums, the company started out only manufacturing a few cars per day. In 1908 the Model T was introduced. It was an easy car to operate, maintain, and handle on rough roads. By 1918, half of all cars in America were Modle T's.

The first car Ford produced was called the Quadricycle. It had 4 wire wheels, was steered with a tiller, and had 2 forward speeds and no reverse.
