The need for the helicopter is that in 1972 Igor Sikorsky wanted to make a machine that could fly straight up or down with overhead blades. The helicopter can fly straight up or down. Also it can hover in on spot and it can land in a small space on the ground. It doesn’t use wings like airplanes. The need is to transport cargo and faster transportation.

The process for the helicopter was that in 1972, Igor Sikorsky finally made vertical flight safe, practical and reliable. He learned that the helicopter needed power- to- ratio .It needed the right controls to be steered without catastrophic failures .It also needed a lightweight frame and wall to reduce vibrations .It needed counteract rotor to work.
