CONDUCTION: conduction occurs when matter of a higher temperature rises and matter of a colder temperature sinks. Examples include those such as when you turn the air conditioner on in a room, the air around it will be cooled, thus reducing its volume and increasing its density. Therefore, it sinks. The air of a higher temperature will rise, replacing the cooler air. This sets in place a convection current, thus cooling the room.

CONVECTION: is the transfer to heat from one plcae to another by movement of fluids. Examples in include, when you are boiling water in a pot, the hot liquid rises, therefore causing it cool down when its up which will fall.

RADIATION: thermal radiation is the transfer of heat energy through empty space. No medium is neccesary for radiation to occur..
