Heat and temperature
Ways heat can be transfer:
HEATThe energy possessed by molecules because of their motion. Therefore all substances contain heat. Heat energy is constantly being transferred from one body to another and is being generated or expanded.TEMPERATUREIs the average speed (V) or the kinetic energy of the atoms for molecules in a substance.
C= (F - 32) * 5/9C=K - 273.15
Convertions:
F=(C * 9/5) + 32F=(K - 273.15) * 9/5 + 32
K=(F - 32) * 5/9 + 273.15K=C + 273.15
Units of heat
Temperature Scales
CONVECTION: Occurs when particles with a lot of heat energy in liquid or gas move and take the place of particles with less heat. CONDUCTION: is the transfer of thermal energy between regions of matter due to a temperature gradient. Heat always flows from a region of higher temperature to a lower one, and results in the elimination of temperature differences by establishing thermal equilibrium. RADIATION: "Black body"; is defined as a body that absorbs all radiation that falls on its surface. All blackbodies heated to a given temperature emit thermal radiation, which is also called infrared radiation. Infrared radiation is a type of electromagnetic radiation that involves waves, no particles.
