The Hawaiian islands were born from underwater volcanoes. Today there are more than 130 non inhabitant islands. Hawaii was founded by the Polynesians in the 11th century. The polynesians came to hawaii in double-hulled canoes where they settled. In 1778 british explorer James Cook founded the 8 main islands (aka Hawaiian islands.) During the 1780s and 1790s we found out that the polynesians worshiped a King, King Kamehameha the Great. The Kamehameha family ruled until the death of Kamehameha V. in 1872. The Hawaiians have many traditions including the Hula, Hawaiian Music and Festivals.
