My hometown---Harbin, is the capital and largest city of Heilongjiang province in Northeast China, which is originally a Manchu word meaning "a place for drying fishing nets", grew from a small rural settlement on the Songhua River to become one of the largest cities in the northeast. Founded by Russia in 1898 with the coming of the Trans-Manchurian Railway, today known as the Chinese Eastern Railway, the city first prospered as a region inhabited by an overwhelming majority of the Jewish immigrants. It is known for its bitterly cold winters and is often called the "Ice City." Harbin is notable for its beautiful ice sculptures in winter and its Russian legacy, and it still plays an important part in Sino-Russian trade today. In the 1920s, the city was considered China's fashion capital since new designs from Paris and Moscow reached there first before arriving in Shanghai. In 2010, Harbin was declared a UNESCO "City of Music".

Ice LanternThe ice lantern is a important part of Harbin's culture. We can use ice build ANYTHING, the ice lanterns are gradually accepted as an art-form in Harbin. In Harbin, we have Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival every year.

Saint Sofia ChurchSt. Sophia Orthodox Cathedral is one of the most magnificent structures in Harbin. It was built in 1907 after the completion of the Trans-Siberian Railway in 1903, which connected Vladivostok to northeast China.

Sun Island Scenic AreaSun Island Resort is located on the north side of Songhua River of Harbin which is opposite to the prosperous downtown of Harbin. The island covers a total area of 3,800 hectares of leisure resources, including the interesting Siberian Tiger Park.

Some people say, the tall people from North of Cina are more than the tall people from South.

It tastes fragrant with hard shell but soft inside.Hongchang (smoked red sausages) are made with lean meat. Because they are smoked with wood, there is a thin cover of charcoal dust over them.
