A King Is BornHades was the firstborn son of Cronus and Rhea. After overthrowing Cronus, Hades and his two brothers, Zeus and Poseidon, drew lots for the shares of the Earth. Hades was gifted the Underworld and became the King of the Dead.

A Land of His OwnGranted the Underworld, Hades became the King of all things postlife. From the river Acheron to the Elysian Fields, Hades was the leader of all things passing and going through the land of the dead and received all of the perks that come with it.

The Wife of HadesHades fell in love with Persephone and on one of his rare trips above ground, he pursued her. Hades confided in his brother, Zeus, his frustrations about the girl, and together they concocted the plan to capture Persephone. While she played with her companions, they caused the ground to split apart underneath her, trapping her in the Underworld where she became Hades' wife. At first, she despised him, but she grew to love him and her role as the Queen of the Underworld and the goddess of flowers , producing 5 kids for Hades: The Furies, Death (Thanatos) and Sleep (Hypnos).

The Helm of DarknessOne of Hades' treasures was his Helm of Darkness. This helmet was used by many because it turned whoever wears it invisible. This helm along with the bident staff were Hades' symbols of power and strongholds of command.

Hades was honored in Greek funeral services and necromantic tides

Hades was said to have gloomy features, including long hair and a long beard to match.

CerberusThe three-headed dog of Hades is the guard of admittance to the Underworld's Elysian Fields, where people proceed after being guided down the Acheron River. He is the pet of Hades.

Hades and MentheMinthe (Menthe) was a beautiful water Nymph deeply in love with Hades, the Greek God of the Underworld. One day, while Hades' wife Persephone was strolling along the river Acheron (the river of woes), she stumbled upon her husband and his mistress Menthe. Infuriated, she took revenge by transforming Menthe into a herbaceous, tiny plant, with inconspicuous leaves so that anyone could easily step upon her. Hades, however, showed mercy for Menthe and, on his try to comfort her, he endowed Menthe with an divine, aromatic scent to last forever. It is the plant which is nowadays known as the mint.
