The Guidance Center's mission is to enhance the development and mental well being of children, adults, families and communities through the delivery of creative, innovative and quality programs. The agency provides a broad range of highly effective services that help children, adults and families unlock their potential and build better lives. Services spanning from Early Childhood, Children and Youth Services, Adult Services, and Developmental Disabilities are delivered in an atmosphere of caring, hope and respect. Last year The Guidance Center served more than 24,500 children and adults. Their programs reflect an ongoing commitment to practical innovation, measurable results and client empowerment.

Who we are....

The DD unit serves persons of ALL ages diagnosed with a developmental disability. Services are provided taking a comprehensive approach and tailor each plan to the needs, wishes and dreams of the consumer and family. Services may include: Case management, Psychological, Psychiatric, Individual Therapy, Family Therapy, Group Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Sensory Integration, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Transition Planning, Guardianship, Respite, Community Living Supports, Health and Nutritional Assistance, Skill Building, Advocacy and P.L.A.Y. Project.

A group of concerned residents and educators recognized the need for mental health services in the Southeastern area and joined forces in 1958 to help form The Guidance Center. Since then they have worked as a team to respond to the needs of children, adults and families in southeast Michigan.The agency operates a wide range of programs and services at 23 locations.
