Most people lived in rural areas during the 19th century. People fled to the cities during the 20th century because the cities became urbanized and industrialized.
When the 19th shifted to the 20th century, a new middle class emerged and brought new culture and entertainment.
More people were chossing a political side. In the 20th century, when people moved more and more people accepted other's political beliefs.
As America's cities grew, religious leaders moved to the urban masses.
The growing middle class of the 20th century supported an expansion of higher education . Art and entertainment also grew.
New technologies made life better in the 20th century such as streetlights , new transportation , skyscrapers , and sewer systems/ underground pipes for fresh water.
In the 19th century there were not many available jobs due to family owned farms . In the 20th century more jobs were offered and more people had money.
