environmental challenges
RANGE: warm waters of Atlantic/ PacificHABITAT: shallow waters with abundant aquatic plants and open water during migration MIGRATION: return to the beach where they hatchedFEEDING: eat seegrass and algae REPRODUCTION: lay eggs on the beach and dig a hole to hide them in, the eggs hatch two months later and find their way to the ocean
-the sea turtles are vulnerable to human predation-they are endangered -humans destroy the nesting beaches -coastal development causes pollution in the water-baby turtle follow the reflection of the ocean against the horizon to figure out which direction to travel-infant turtles are confused by the bright artificial lights and often travel the wrong way and die-example: baby turtles were found on the street journeying towards a baseball field becuase the lights distracted them, people picked them up and brought them back to the beach-infant turtles are extemely vulnerable when they first hatch because predators are eyeing them for food
