GRASSLANDS
1. LOCATIONGrasslands are found on all continents except Antarctica.
2. WEATHERThe temperatures are moderate and the rainfall is ligth.
3. ANIMALSA small number of animals such as rabbits, prairie dogs, gophers, badgers, rats, mice, snakes, and insects live in grasslands. Herds of large herbivores such as deer, pronghorn, and bison are also found there.
4. PLANTSVarious grasses are the dominant plants. Some examples of grasses are wheat, corn, rice, and other grains.
Grasses have special adaptations that help them live without much water.
The few trees that grow there are found near rivers.
Grasslands are also used to raise livestock such as cattle and sheep.
Grasslands are very important in the world agriculture.
These grasses are used to make bread, flour, and cereal.
