GOLGI APPARATUS

The golgi apparatus s responsible for transporting, modifying, and packaging proteins and lipids into vesicles for delivery to destinations. Without golgi apparatus a protein such as DNA, would be lost. If the golgi apparatus was missing in a cell, no secretions would be taking place, so the cell will eventually die within a sort period.

The golgi apparatus's structure is a series of membranes shaped like pancakes. The membrane surrounds an area of fluid where complex molecules (proteins, sugars, enzymes) are stored and changed.

A golgi apparatus in a cell, is located in the cytoplasm next to the endoplasmic reticulum and near the cell nucleus. The golgi apparatus is located there because it is supported by cytoplasmic microtubules.

A golgi aparatus functions like a post office, a ups truck or airport luggage sorting because they all sort and transport materials

Function:A complex of vessesls and folded membranes involved in secretion and intracellular transport
